I only give 5.0 reviews when they are deserved. Our server, Matthew, earned one for the Gate House. He was friendly and attentive without hovering.
All of our food dishes were excellent. Presentation, contrast, delivery, all top quality.
Two couples had dinner before a show. We weren't stuffed or still hungry. Just comfortable and we will be back.

The food and service was amazing per usual. The fall ambiance on the last day of summer made for a beautiful al fresco dining experience. Waitress Stacy made it all the much better.

Visit Rochester occasionally and first time eating here. I was not expecting this to be as good as it turned out. Had a Caesar salad to start and it was the best Caesar salad I ever had in my life. I would go back just for that. We had the the blackened tenderloin and the scallops dish. Both dishes were outstanding. Flavorful , cooked perfect and fast. Waitress was fantastic as well. My only negative and this a personal pet peeve I have with most restaurants is the noise level. I have never understood why restaurants don't incorporate sound absorbers to enhance the customers experience because no one wants to have to shout to the person next to them.

Was a great place to celebrate a birthday. The variety of the menus is great for those who are picky eaters and dietary restrictions. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Pricing was reasonable for a meal with 4 people who all had cocktails too.

The Gate House is one of those places where you sit down and immediately relax because nothing feels off. Service was on point from start to finish, and a big part of that was our server, Gabrielle. She was attentive without hovering, actually knew the menu, and checked in at the right times without making it feel like a routine, which somehow feels rare lately. I went with the grilled salmon and it delivered. Cooked right, still moist, good char, and whatever glaze they’re using actually tastes like someone thought about it instead of dumping some random liquid on fish. Sat on mashed potatoes that were real mashed potatoes, not whipped wallpaper paste, with asparagus that still had a spine. The plate looked good and more importantly ate even better. I left full, satisfied, and not mentally drafting a complaint in my head, which is about the highest compliment I can give a restaurant. I’d absolutely go back.

Had THE BEST dinner tonight! Omg!! Came here with a party of 7 for a birthday dinner. We got placed in a side room with 3 other tables. It was cozy and quiet and we had enough table space as well as space between tables. Our waiter was attentive and immediately starting to take care of us. He shared the specials and gave us time to look over the menu. This was my 3rd time at the restaurant and decided to do an entree over a burger, which I thoroughly enjoyed last time. I was going between a couple items but landed on the Guiness Braised Short Ribs. It came with Bleu cheese mashed potatoes, root veggies, stout gravy and French green beans, and IT.WAS.FABULOUS. So much flavor. The short ribs were fork tender. It was all cooked to perfection with nice chunks of Bleu cheese in the mashed. It was comfort on a plate that I didnt want to end. Three other people got pizzas which looked and smelled delicious. I did try a bite of one and the flavor was also very good with perfectly cooked crispy crust. Someone else got The Wease burger, cooked medium like asked, had big slices of crispy bacon and onions. Specialty cocktails ordered for the table were tasty with aesthetically pleasing presentation. Overall, we cant wait to come back.

I would give 10 stars! Everyone working here is amazing, welcoming and most helpful. Our server Sam recommended delicious meals and customized drinks for us. Their veggie plate is enormous and yummy! The place is very cozy and unique, it gets busy so be prepared for some level of noise. Clean restrooms. We parked across at the small parking lot across the street.

We were in town for a show and stopped here for dinner. Thursday night at 5pm it was really quiet when we were seated but started to pick up around 5:30pm. Got the duffy burger and my husband had the tenderloin tips. Both meals were cooked perfectly and were reasonably priced. We each ordered a drink as well and the mean came up about $75 total. Would definitely visit again.

Great brunch, wonderful service, and a fun atmosphere! We got the French toast, chicken and biscuits, and the fry-up and everything was wonderful! Our server was Alicia B and she was very kind and accommodating our whole meal.
Additionally, the women’s bathroom was clean and had a lot of free toiletries available, including tampons! I did not see the men’s, so i cannot speak on that.
We aren’t out this way often, but next time we are we will be back to visit this place!

Great atmosphere, not too loud. Service was quick. Love how they named their pizzas after Rochester’s greats. RPO, Kodak, Federico Douglass, etc. Definitely recommend getting the wagyu smash burger, very big portion.
